This class is perfect for high school students who are familiar with the basic structure of the essay but are uninspired or inexperienced with how to make their writing pop. Weekly themes will include: diction and tone, figurative language, paragraph structure, captivating thesis statements, striking conclusions, etc.
This class is intended to help students solidify and expand their knowledge of basic grammar. All foundational grammar concepts will be reviewed, but then students will study more advanced concepts. The class will emphasize the application of grammar concepts to increasingly complex sentence structures and to correcting common grammar, usage, and mechanical errors in writing. In the vocabulary portion of the class, students will continue to build their knowledge of Greek and Latin word stems that make up a multitude of English words.
